There's a really neat Junior Optimist project going on at Power and East schools these next 2 weeks, and the kids would like your help. They're collecting shoes to help people in need. If you're a student at Power or East, there are collection boxes at your school. If you're at another school, and can't make it over to East or Power to drop off, you can make arrangements to drop them by Kelly Iles' house. This is a great opportunity to get some of those unneeded shoes in your closet, and help some people who can really use them. Let's help our Power & East Junior Optimist Clubs make this the best shoe drive ever! Here are the details:

East & Power Jr. Optimists Supporting Soles 4 Souls for the Month of April
NOW through Monday, April 22nd

Soles 4 Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from warehouses of footwear companies and the closets of people like you! The charity distributes these shoes free of charge to people in need. Soles 4 Souls mission is to deliver as many shoes and as much clothing to people who are in need.

If you have a lot of shoes collected to donate, please contact Kelly Iles (kelly@f2hoptimists.org) and make special arrangements to drop-off the shoes at the Iles Home (21936 Parklane Street, Farmington Hills, MI 48335). If you have only a few pairs of shoes to donate, please donate them in the drop-off boxes located at East Middle School in the lobby, and Power Upper Elementary School in the Counseling Office.

Please check with your parents, siblings, grandparents, neighbors and friends and see if they have shoes to donate as well.

The final delivery of all the shoes collected by the Jr. Optimists will be made on Friday, April 29th. If you are a Power or East Junior Optimist, and are interested in helping make the delivery to the collection site, please contact Kelly Iles.
