Hi -
Sorry for the delay. We've all been caught up in the school funding crisis in February, and the Junior Optimists ended up at the bottom of the pile. For those who missed our last meeting, here's what we accomplished:
1. We heard presentations about four different community projects for this spring. They are described briefly in the attached PDF document.
2. We broke out into groups, and each group selected a project to work on and a name for their team.
3. We turned in our registration forms for the National Junior Optimists program.
4. We signed up for T-shirts for this year's club. They will cost about $8.00 each, and there is still time to order one.
Our next phase will be meeting in smaller groups with the individual project organizers. This is where we get down to planning and executing each of the four projects. Some projects already have dates locked in, others will select dates as a team at your next meeting.
Attached is a PDF which has all of our members, which team they are on, T-shirt orders, whether we have your registration forms, and contact information for the project organizers. If you have not ordered a T-shirt, but would like one, please email richard@f2hoptimists.org with size(s). They are available in YS-YM-YL-S-M-L, and parents are welcome to get them too. If you have not turned in your registration form, please send it in through Lynn Lerner in Mrs. Lyons classroom.
We have also applied to be a partner in the Disney "Give a Day Get a Disney Day" promotion. If approved, each of our Junior Optimists can receive a free day at Disney for completing a day of volunteer service while working on their project. Parents and siblings can also earn a free day. More details to come on this. Keep your fingers crossed!
Most of the teams will be meeting in the next two weeks to plan their projects. Look for an email from your project organizer.
