Hi -
On Friday, the Highmeadow Junior Optimists will be recognized at the end-of-year assembly. Please have your child wear their Junior Optimist T-shirt. If they are wearing a T-shirt for another club or group, that's fine too. They will also receive a Junior Optimist water bottle at the assembly.
We will be presenting a plaque to Highmeadow for piloting this program, which is being expanded to 10 schools next year. For our 4th and 5th grade students moving on to Warner and Power, there will be Junior Optimist Clubs at both schools. The Power club has already started, and will be working on projects this summer. If your child would like to be part of the Power Middle School club, be sure to sign up for the email blasts by clicking on the Update Subsciptions link below, and checking the box for Power Middle School.
The Project F.I.S.H. team will be meeting in early July to work on the parade float. The date for that program is July 24, and anyone interested can sign up at the Costick Center. If you would like to work with us on the project, just drop me a line.
Lastly, both Ann Amshay and I are moving on to middle school (upper elementary school) next year. So we are in need of a parent volunteer to take over the Highmeadow Junior Optimist Club. I will be leading clubs at Warner and Dunckel, and also working with several other clubs next year, and cannot lead this one. I will continue to be the liaison person for the Optimist Club, and will help get the club started in the fall. But we are in need of one or two parents to step up and offer to be the parent leaders for Highmeadow. If you would be willing to do this, please let me know.
Thanks again to you and your children for helping to make this program such a success, and to Ann Amshay for being our co-leader for the past two years. It has been an honor and a pleasure for both of us to work with your children in performing community service.
Have a great summer,
Richard Lerner
